Projects > Green Bicycle Project

Green Bicycle Department

The Green Bicycle project enhances mobility of the people to access services and also promotes environmental conservation.

The Foundation is working with schools to assist students, especially in rural areas, to access school. The participating school plants trees within the school and engage in environmental programmes

Recently the Foundation has initiated a Green Bicycle Project in partnership with the Japan Bicycle Parking Facility to distribute bicycles to needy students in rural areas.

About 2000 bicycles will be donated in a period of five years. Already 435 bicylces were distributed to schools and community groups in 2009.

The aim of the project is to encourage students to attend school and enhance green practices; which entail tree-planting  both in schools and the community and also observing environmentally friendly practices in their every day living.
